Athletics: MS Volleyball: 2007 Middle School Volleyball: Recap (4/5/6th)

October 15: Indianapolis Independent Schools League (IISL)

We traveled to ISI for the IISL 1st round tourney and we defeated Kingsway, 25-14 and 25-16. Then we played in the 2nd round against ISIU. Boy, it was a very exciting and hot game. We won the 1st game (25-22) and ISI won the 2nd game (25-22) then we played the 3rd game. It was a head to head score until 14-14. They beat us 14-15. The girls played very good even though they played 2 games in a row and ISI had a break in between. Naturally the girls were extremely upset; they had a goal to play in the championship.

I want to tell you something about our ISD 5/6 girls’ volleyball team. I have 14 girls on the team, half are 5th grade and half are 6th grade girls. About half of them came from a scratch like u bake a delicious cake from a scratch. Judy and I trained and taught the girls to be accomplished players and be ready for 7/8th team as well as the High School. Each practice and game, we saw them improve and gave full effort into volleyball. Wow! They were really young and fresh and now they have grown into better players and potentials. Judy and I both really enjoyed having all our girls on the team and watch them grow. They all captured our hearts. It was the first time that I was the head coach and I also have grown into a better coach similar to the girls growing into better and accomplished players! I learned a lot. I love doing it. Please congratulate the players and give a pat on their backs letting them know they have had a great volleyball season with the final record, including the tourney, of 12-4. Thanks for giving me the chance to be the 5/6th head coach and for your support, feedback and encouragement! I appreciate it with full heart. Thanks go to Brian Bippus for checking in with me and for giving me tips and feedback as well as faith in me. - Coach Karen Alberti

October 10: Lynhurst

We traveled to Lynhurst for the last regular season game . We played against the 7th grade team and we beat them 2-0. It was a pretty easy game and the girls played beautifully during the 1st game but they were pretty off during the 2nd game. However, the ISD team managed to beat them 25-9 and 25-19. The girls were surprised that they played against the 7th grade team.

October 9: St. Richards

We had a game with St Richard in the Caskey Gym yesterday. It was a close call but we won by the scores of 25-24 and 25-22. The girls were tired and didn't practice after a long weekend. and not getting used to playing in the bigger gym. It was a good experience for them in case we might play in the tourney in the Caskey Gym next Tuesday.

October 4: Heritage Christian

For those who came and watched our 5/6th girls VB team against Heritage Christian this afternoon were lucky enough to witness the game. The girls

played beautifully and very calmly with full energy on the court. We beat them 25-9 and 25-10. The record now is 9-3, much to my amazement!

October 2: Sycamore

We played against Sycamore once again and we beat them easily by the scores of 25-10 and 25-11. It was our 5th winning streak and the record now is 8-3.

September 27: Kingsway Christian

The 5/6th girls played against Kingsway Christian today. I was very happy with how they played and we beat them 25-18 and 25-19. It was our 4th straight wins with the record of 7-3.

September 25: Heritage Christian

Heritage Christian came to the KRC and played against our ISD girls yesterday. For those who came and watched our game, you can say how well our girls played, right? The HC team was usually a very good team and we beat them 2-0. The scores were 25-11 and 25-17. The record now is 6-3. Way to go, ISD girls!

September 20: Sycamore

We played at Sycamore today. We beat them 2-0 and the scores were 25-14 and 25-17. The girls played beautifully and very calm. They served really well, too. Some girls' parents came to me and told me they noticed that the girls made 3 passes which made me very happy.

September 18: International

Our 5/6th girls played against International School. They beat us the last time and we beat them yesterday. It was such a very exciting game, 2-1. The scores were 14-25, 25-24, and 15-14. The girls realy worked very hard and poured all their energies on the court.

September 13: Bethesda Christian

We played against Bethesda Christian and we lost 2-1. In the first game, the girls were pretty off and didn't really play at their best. Then in the 2nd game, we played much better and beat them. Again, in the 3rd game, we played real good and very hot. We ended up losing. The scores were 13-25, 25-10, and 14-15.

September 11: Park Tudor

We played against Park Tudor yesterday at our home gym. We played 3 games
and we beat them 2-1. You should see how nervous I was as I walked back and forth. We didn't play well during the 2nd game so I had to put fire on the court during the 3rd game and we won! The scores were 25-14, 13-25, and 15-8.

September 6: International

We played against International and we lost 11-25 and 14-25. International was one of the good teams and our girls played harder. Good game!!

September 4: Traders Point

We won and beat Traders Point 25-23 and 25-19. At the beginning of the first game, they were well ahead at 23-9, I had to call for a time out and put fire on the court and we finally caught up and beat them. The girls somehow had the vortex and played at their very best.

August 28: Orchard

Our 5 & 6th girls lost to Orchard 25-5 and 25-18. The girls were pretty off but they also played hard on the floor.

August 23: Edinburgh

The 5 & 6th grade girls won last Thursday playing against Edinburgh 7th grade girls. The scores were 25 to 9 and 25 to 11. The girls played well on the floor to their best.
