October 17 IISL Tournament: Orchard
Yesterday we traveled to Orchard to play against Orchard in the semifinal. When we arrived the gym, we hurried for some reason because Orchard team and the officials were ready; it was 4:05. We tried our best to get ready for the match, and Orchard seemed had no chance given to us so we could get "fully" ready. Since they hosted the semifinal, which was their responsible to run the host. Coach Sorce was not happy how it was handled by Orchard. The 1st game we weren't playing our best and we made many errors. Probably it's because we didn't have enough warm-up. Orchard ran away with the score. But we did caught up and still fell short, 11-25. The 2nd game, we finally got our groove into playing well. It was hotly contested from both teams. Mostly they led and we tied then they led and we tied. We had not led the game. We tied at 24-24 and decided by one final play. Unfortunately we couldn't force the 3rd game and we lost 24-25. Our season was finished with record of 10-6. Coach Sorce wanted to share with you about this season. He is happy about our winning record and we advanced to semifinal. He is proud of the girls to begin the season and end the season on high note. He noticed many good things about the girls' development of volleyball skills. He wanted to thank the parents for an opportunity to coach their daughters, and thank Brian Bippus, coaches and staff for great support throughout the season. He looks forward for a new season next year!

October 16 IISL Tournament: Kingsway
Yesterday we hosted Kingsway Christian in the KRC. It was our 1st IISL playoff match of this season. Anyway, in our 1st game we started off with fire and ran away with lead score. We played beautifully; a team that Coach Sorce liked to see. Joella Hazelett made 11 straight serving points. We won 25-8. In the 2nd game, we're a little bit off at the start drive but managed to overcome it. Carissa Kelly made 9 straight serving points that sealed the game and victory, 25-13. Everyone played, and it was great playoff win. We advanced to the semifinal match either against the winner of International School of Indiana (ISI) or Orchard.

October 11: Lynhurst
The Lynhurst team came in late due to driving far away. Their size was pretty big and tall, and they didn't look like 5th or 6th graders. Coach Sorce told the girls don't let their heights and looks faze us, and we must take the challenge. We're fired up for the match. The 1st game, we took by a blowout lead with Britta Schwall's 12 straight serving points. At score 15-1, Coach Sorce decided to put all 2nd stringers on the floor to preserve our lead and grabbed the victory, 25-11. The 2nd game, we started to play lagging that kept them into the game and the score was closer. We could have played better, but we grabbed the victory, 25-18. The regular season has officially come to end with the record of 9-5. Coach Sorce is pleased to see the winning record entering the IISL tournament and seeded #3 in the playoff format.

October 10: St. Richard's
Tuesday we traveled to St. Richard's, a rematch whose we beat earlier at our home court. At the pre-game, St. Richard's were fired up and looked like a team that really want to beat us so badly. Coach Sorce explained to the girls that they're fired up and it's up to you to show up for a challenge for feisty competition. The 1st game, it was very hotly contested by both teams. We made a couple of errors that helped them out to keep the score close.
Unfortunately we couldn't execute some good plays and they kept fired up. We lost 23-25. The 2nd game, we got started real slowly. They took early lead 4-8. Coach Sorce called timeout to get the girls regrouped. The girls got back on the floor and fired up from Carissa Kelly's 7 straight serving points. We never looked back and won 25-17. The 3rd game, it was hotly contested and we outlasted them. It was ugly win for us, 15-12. It was real close match and we were lucky to escape with a win.

October 5: Heritage Christian
Yesterday we traveled to Heritage Christian. It was a battle of good teams. In the 1st game, both teams started off well and continued until we took the lead with Joella Hazelett's 6 straight serves with a final score of 20-15. Somehow they found our weakness, capitalized by rallying points and took the lead 20-22. At timeout, Coach Sorce made an adjustment to dust off our weakness. We stopped their rally and took over the lead 23-22. But we dropped the lead again, they kept capitalizing with our making errors but lost 23-25. In the 2nd game, they put 2nd stringers on the floor while we kept our 1st stringers. We started off slowly, but we woke up, ran away with the lead score and never looked back. We won 25-9. In the 3rd game, they put their 1st stringers back on the floor. Coach Sorce told the girls we must play with no or minimal errors, because they figured us out in the 1st game. They took a huge lead at 1-7. We did make a couple of foolish errors at the opening drive, but we rallied 5-7. We fought until the end. Unfortunately we lost 7-15. We played well, and they're just a good team.

October 3: Sycamore
Yesterday we traveled to Sycamore for a rematch whom we beat earlier on our court. Coach Sorce warned the girls not to take the match for granted just because we beat them before. We must play as if we never played them before. In the 1st game, we started slow and the teams were taking turns leading. Sycamore was very hungry and played their best. When Jasmine Jeter served, we finally got 8 straight serving points out of her. We won the game 25-21. In the 2nd game, it was the same result as 1st game where we started slow. We still traded the lead. Sycamore was persistent with good plays on the floor while we weren't. We lost 23-25. In the 3rd game, Coach Sorce told the girls if they wanted to win, they must show. It was up to them. We started to play like it was a comedy which didn't help us to escape with the win. The girls weren't persistent with their volleyball skills and made a couple of errors. We lost 14-15.

September 28: Kingsway Christian
Yesterday we traveled to Kingsway Christian. We were short-handed with only 8 girls available to play. However, it was no challenge for us when we won 25-9 and 25-12. We had good serving and receiving. We did 1-2-3 passes and worked well. They struggled with their receiving which was to our advantage and decided the match.

September 26: St. Richard's
Yesterday we hosted St. Richard's in the KRC. The 1st game we played very good and hot game. We took turns with the lead score. We weren't in good serving game that helped them to keep up with us. At score 19-20, they called timeout while Jasmine Jeter was serving. When timeout's up, we went back the floor and we lost serving and gave them a point. The coaches objected and found out that St. Richards scorekeeper made a mistake claimed that we didn't follow the serving order. It was reset to where it was when the timeout was called. We ended up got into a fire until we got to 24-20. We then made some errors and we prevailed won the game 25-24. The 2nd game, we started off out of sync and we were down most of the time. We never rallied and lost the game 17-25. Coach Sorce explained to the girls if they want to win the 3rd game and the match, they had to show on the floor. That meant no errors and no let-up. The girls went back on the floor and played what they were supposed to. We crushed them 15-4. Coach Sorce was pleased to see the girls listened and took it seriously.

September 21: Sycamore
Yesterday we hosted Sycamore in the KRC. It was hot match which we won in the 1st and 2nd game, 25-24 and 25-21. In the 1st game we had a couple of errors with serving and let them take advantage with our holes on the floor. They led most of the game until e finally roared back to tie the game at 24-24. Jasmine Jeter made a good serve and it was well-fought game. We got the edge! In the 2nd game it was see-saw game both teams taking turns with the lead score. The key to the game was Jasmine Jeter who had excellent serving and made 6 straight aces.

September 19: International
On Tuesday we traveled to the International School of
Indiana. In the 1st game we played well with receiving and serving. Jasmine Jeter was the highlight of the 1st game with her serving. They couldn't even receive her serve which caused errors to our advantage. We won 25-21. The 2nd game started off hot with better chemistry on the floor. We won 25-11.

September 14: Bethesda Christian
Yesterday we hosted Bethesda Christian in the KRC. We were fired up about the match, because we wanted to avenge our first loss of the season in the championship match from last year. In the 1st game we struggled with receiving and serving. They got the best of us and played what they were supposed to do on the court. We lost 13-25. In the 2nd game the girls lost confidence and nothing we could do would overcome it. We lost 11-25. Coach Sorce plans to fine-tuned the players in some areas and get the girls' confidence back in before we play an away game vs. International.

September 12: Park Tudor
Yesterday we traveled Park Tudor. In our 1st game, we played very poorly causing too many errors in the opening drive. Later in the game we had a rally but still we let them win. Coach Sorce wasn't very pleased with the result from girls' plays on the floor. The score was 23-25. In the 2nd game, we played better and noticed a big difference from the 1st game. Coach Sorce liked what he saw, and we won 25-11. In the 3rd game we made errors in the opening drive and noticed our frustration on the floor. We let the game get away and lost 7-15. The bottom line is the girls didn't play at their best. Hopefully, we will see better playing on Thursday as we host Bethesda Christian in KRC. This is a match we will plan for payback to Bethesda who handed is our 1st loss and prevented us from the undefeated season in the championship match.

September 7: International
Yesterday we hosted a match with International in KRC. In our 1st game, we started off pretty well. It was hotly contested game. We took the lead, gave away lead, took it back and gave it away. It was see-saw game. However, we prevailed and won the game 25-23. In the 2nd game, we took an early lead, but they rallied due to a couple of mental errors. We didn't let the mental errors continue and got the best of them. We won the game 25-23. The highlight of the game was Irene Deluna when she saved the ball with a reach-out dig that helped to stop their rally. Coach Sorce was proud to see the girls giving their best on the floor; it was a good sweep.

September 5: Traders Point
In our 1st game we started off slowly, but we finally had better receiving bumps than we did the last time. We played a better team and outlasted them 25-18. In the 2nd game we took a huge lead when Carissa Kelly made 10 straight serving aces. Also the highlight of the game was Jasmine Jeter who made a great kill. Near the end of game, Jasmine made a couple of excellent serving aces by using an overhead serve. Traders Point was amazed. We won the game 25-14. We also played the 3rd game for fun; it was a great opportunity for the bench to play. We won 25-10.

August 29: Orchard
Yesterday we hosted Orchard at KRC which was our 1st home match of the year. In our 1st game, we started off poorly and continued with non-aggressive plays. We didn't help ourselves and we lost 8-25. In the 2nd game we finally played better. Also Orchard gave us chance to play with their 2nd stringers. This was our advantage to play all of our girls. We outlasted them by winning 25-9. In the 3rd game Orchard put back their starters in. The girls knew that they needed to play equally or better with their starters on the floor. But it didn't work it out well because the girls looked confused and dazed. That led to many errors. We lost 3-15. Coach Sorce strives to see improvements coming our way leading to success.

August 24: Edinburgh
Yesterday, it was our 1st match of the season, and we were very excited to open up with Edinburgh. We have seven 5th graders and five 6th graders. It is a challenge for us. We played at Edinburgh against their 7th graders. In our first game, we started off fairly well, and we took advantage of their errors. We played a better team but it resulted in our first victory 25-20. The second game we played better and won 25-18. The girls need some area of improvement which we plan to work on next week Monday. However, the girls enjoyed a taste of our 1st victory of the year.
