Athletics: HS Boys Basketball: 2007-2008: Recap (JV)

February 20: Covenant Christian

Our JV boys played another good 2A school against Covenant Christian. We tried to stop two taller players inside but to no avail. Also, they have really good shooters outside, but I am proud of them playing hard and doing their best. Yesterday was the last game for JV boys. We lost by the score 58 to 12. Our record now stands 5 wins and 9 losses.

February 18: Indianapolis Metro Academy

Deaf Hoosiers played against Indianapolis Metro Academy last night. We had only 6 players. They played hard and tried their best to stop their fast breaks but couldn't captilalize their defense stops against them. We played much better in second half but couldn't keep up with their fast break. We fell to a excellent team, 20 to 61.

February 14: Bethesda Christian

Last night, we brought only 6 players and faced a good JV team but I felt that our boys will be able to play well against them. Our turnovers really hurt us at the beginning. Down at 17 to 2 in first quarter then second quarter was little bit better but couldn't
catch them up. Down at 26 to 9 at halftime but their 3 pointers started to get hot in second half. We played hard and tried our best in game. The final score is 52 to 20.

February 12: International

Our JV boys played with good offense last night as Scotty Grandt played his first game well. All boys contributed in the game that I was really pleased with them. Deaf Hoosiers grabbed a victory over International, 49 to 17.

February 7: Scecina Memorial

Our JV boys faced another tough team from 2A school. We started pretty
well but we got hurt with many turnovers, allowing Scecina players to
score with some fastbreaks or second chance shots. Our boys played hard
and tried their best to play well. The final score was 56 to 18.

February 5: Howe
Deaf Hoosiers played against tough 3A school which has a lot of talent players. During the 1st quarter, we managed well against their press, only down by 20 to 8.
Then they continued to put pressure on us in 2nd quarter until halftime, the score was 40 to 12. In second half, they continue to wear us down until the end. Our boys learned to play hard and never give up and continued to try their best last night.

February 2: Illinois Deaf
Terris Hazzard scored 23 points and got 12 rebounds. We attacked them with full
court press and we did a good job holding the lead in 4th quarter.

January 31: White's (cancelled)

January 22: Lutheran

January 15: Columbus Christian

December 12: Eminence
They all played together very well especially with Andre Jensen with his fiery defense against the big post man. He made the big man frustrated all night long. And Kayree Thomas came in and contributed good minutes for the team. He scored 5 points. Dana led the team with 18 points. He did an excellent job with taking the lead with team.

December 8: Australia (Homecoming)

The Deaf Hoosiers Junior varsity lost to Austriala - Emus JV team 50-40 despite the inability to contain two big front court postplayers, 6'9" and 6'8.

December 4: Greenwood Christian Academy

The leading scorers were Terris Hazzard with 16 and Dana Howle made 12.

November 29: Morton Memorial

November 27: Liberty Christian

The Junior Varsity boys lost to Liberty Christian, 33 to 29.

Terris Hazzard – 12 points

Keren Martinez-Cruz – 7 points

November 20: Irvington

Last Tuesday's game was our first game and we were off to a good start with a win over Irvington. We went to a shaky start in the first half but regrouped and got things under control. Terris Hazzard and Ryan Dibble led the way by scoring 17 and 18, respectively.
